Relevent appoints Boris Gartner as Chief Executive Officer following successful global expansion and record-breaking media rights and sponsorship deals for UEFA Men’s Club Competitions
Gartner’s promotion follows the creation of Relevent Football Partners, the London-based subsidiary representing the commercial rights for UEFA Club Competitions globally, and the successful sponsorship and media rights agreements struck in recent months for the 2027-33 cycle. Former CEO and Relevent co-founder Danny Sillman will transition to Executive Chairman of the company
NEW YORK, December 22, 2025 – Relevent, the world’s most influential privately-owned sports marketing and media rights organization dedicated to commercializing international football, announced today that Boris Gartner had been named CEO of the company. The promotion comes after Gartner oversaw the creation and development of Relevent Football Partners — the Relevent subsidiary that manages the global commercial rights for all UEFA men's club competitions. As Relevent Football Partners’ founding CEO, Gartner was tasked with leading the recruitment of an industry-leading team, the development of the commercial strategy, and the execution of the sales process that has resulted in record-breaking revenues generated for the UEFA Club Competitions.
“It’s an honor to take on this new role at Relevent, a company I’ve been a part of for almost a decade and one we’ve transformed from a live events company and sports promoter into a global, industry-leading media and commercial rights organization,” Boris Gartner said. “This is the result of a great friendship and partnership with Danny, and the unwavering support from Stephen, which will continue to play a key role as we continue expanding our business and building on the innovative model that has made Relevent the foremost commercial partner to media organizations, leagues, and governing bodies across global football.”
With the company’s continued growth and expanding opportunities, Danny Sillman will move from CEO to Executive Chairman. This transition allows Sillman to concentrate on long-term strategy, new commercial deals, and investment opportunities, while Gartner takes on responsibility for the company's day-to-day management and operations. Sillman and Gartner will continue to work in close partnership as they have for the past years, which has been crucial to Relevent’s successful expansion and ability to secure more than $21 billion in commercial agreements on behalf of its partners.

“Boris has been a one-of-a-kind partner in transforming Relevent into a leading and trusted commercial partner to the most influential leagues and competitions in global sport,” Danny Sillman said. “His incredible work as President of Relevent and CEO of Relevent Football Partners — including standing up offices around the world, hiring a best-in-class executive team, and driving the negotiations that led to this fall’s record-breaking global commercial deals — further underscores that he is the right person to lead Relevent into this next chapter. I’m proud to call him my partner and friend, and I look forward to supporting him as he leads this company into the future.”
Gartner joined Relevent in 2018 to build and lead LALIGA North America, a 20-year joint venture between Relevent and LALIGA serving as the exclusive representation of LALIGA in the United States, Canada, and Mexico for all commercial and development activities. Alongside Sillman, Gartner led the company to secure UEFA’s Men’s Club Competitions media rights in the United States in 2022 and, three years later, helped Relevent earn a historic mandate to expand its representation to all commercial rights (media and sponsorship) globally for the 2027-2033 cycle.
Subsequently, Gartner led Relevent’s efforts to stand up Relevent Football Partners, the purpose-built subsidiary commercializing UEFA’s men’s club competitions. He spearheaded efforts to recruit a leadership team of world-class executives with extensive global experience across media and technology platforms, agencies, consumer brands, and sport and oversaw the opening of Relevent Football Partners’ headquarters in London with further expansion planned across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Gartner and Sillman also drove Relevent’s efforts to secure a media rights and content marketing mandate for the English Football League (EFL) across the Americas as well as a 17-year exclusive commercial partnership with Bundesliga across North, Central, and South America.
Before joining Relevent, Gartner served as Chief Operating Officer for the content division of Grupo Televisa, the world’s largest Spanish-language content producer, and previously held various executive positions at Univision Communications Inc. He has been recognized by Hispanic Executive as a Top Latino in Sports (2023), Sports Business Journal 40 Under Forty (2022), Leaders in Sports Leaders Under 40 (2020), the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications as a NAMIC Luminary (2016), Cynopsis Digital IT List (2016), and Variety Hollywood’s New Leaders: TV Executives (2013).
Gartner has served on the board of directors of the U.S. Soccer Foundation since 2024. From 2019 to 2025, Gartner was a board member of Polaris, the leading non-profit in the U.S. fighting to end human trafficking. He is also part of the 2019 Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports at Harvard Business School, the 2017 Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, and the 2013 Georgetown Leadership Seminar.
